Belly Dance Classes

"Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion."
- Martha Graham

Belly Dance classes at Maya are not only a fun way to get fit, but also a place to express yourself, make friends, and grow in self-confidence and self-love.

Senta
Senta, the owner and director of Maya Dance Company, has had extensive training, working through her BDASA and SADTA grades to Fellow (adjudicator)level, completing the 4th Cairo festival on dance of Egypt for teachers and professional dancers, and completing Hadia's Internationally recognised teacher training seminars, as well as many workshops by local and international dancers (please see qualifications page). This training, together with her knowledge as a kahuna massage therapist, Reiki master and breathwork practitioner, and her absolute passion for Belly Dance, helps Senta to support each dancer's individual needs and growth - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Belly Littles
especially created for little ones aged 4-11 years. Maya's children's classes support and nurture little girls, encouraging early respect for themselves and their bodies. Classes are 45 minutes long to suit their attention span, and are fun and light-hearted! Moms are welcome to come watch classes to see what their daughters will be learning.

If you can talk, you can sing. If you can walk, you can dance.

Student Testimonials

Robyn Shirley
Senta’s belly dancing classes are so much more than just a dance class, it is more about expression, finding your magic and unleashing the dancer inside of all of us. For me personally, belly dancing has given me back my self- confidence and the courage to be me, something I thought I had lost. I look forward to class each week as I meet my fellow “belly babes” as we explore the journey of this captivating dance further!

Michelle Colia
I remember the first time I saw Senta, it was at a Lebanese function, and I was totally mesmerized by her dancing. She moved with such grace and control and seemed effortlessly able to shimmy every part of her body. Each graceful movement she made was an expression of femininity and strength. I joined her class not long after that and discovered, I too had a goddess within. My whole life has changed since that first day, belly dancing has become a way of life. It has formed such a huge part me and is a source of inspiration to many other aspects of my life. Because of my very busy lifestyle my belly dancing classes have become sessions for “just me” time. Where I get to meditate, be creative, entertain and socialize with other fellow belly dancers. Senta has guided and supported me every step of the way of my belly dancing journey. She has allowed for my inner goddess to shine. I have met so many passionate, wholesome ladies through belly dancing, each of them, a goddess with true inner beauty, depicting strength and femininity.
