Hula Dance Classes

"I want one word on my tombstone - dancer."
- Agnes de Mille

Hula is the sacred dance of the Hawaiian Islands that tells the stories of long ago.

Hula was used to pass information about Hawaiian life and culture down from generation to generation. Every arm and hand movement has a meaning –the waves rolling into shore, war, animals or palm trees swaying in the wind. Hula dancers should truly become one with the dance and the actions, objects, or images they are imitating in their hula.

"Hula is the language of the heart and therefore the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people."

Maya Dance Company run Hula workshops from time to time and performs Hula dances at Hawaiian functions.
